Learning vocabulary and/or idiomatic expressions related to French.
Once a week, the student is provided with specific vocabulary on daily communication situations, complementary to the one reviewed in regular class sessions, where they have the possibility of articulating this new vocabulary to the other competences of language learning, which in set allow you to make complete and correct sentences.
French grammar.
The grammatical component, although heavy, plays a very important role because it constitutes the syntactic and semantic basis for the construction of everyday communicative intentions. Grammar applied in real contexts makes learning an experiential, real and practical process. From this perspective and following the simulation of contexts as natural as possible, the student will be able to put into practice the theory of tenses, verb modes and related categories to improve their learning in an integral way.
French spelling.
In French there are four types of accents that we know as accents in Spanish: the acute accent (l’accent aigu) “ ´ ”, the grave accent “ ` ” (l’accent grave), the circumflex accent “ ^ ” (l’accent circonflexe) and the umlaut “ ¨ ” (le tréma). Unlike Spanish, in French these accents are not used to indicate the stressed syllable but are related to changes in the history of the language’s writing, and on other occasions affect the pronunciation of the letter in which they are found. In addition, these are diacritical accents that are useful to distinguish homophone words such as ou –disjunction-, and où – where.
Phonetics
One of the things that makes French difficult is its pronunciation, since the way of pronouncing the letters differs greatly from Spanish, and sometimes the pronunciation is totally different from its spelling: the difference between the grapheme and the phoneme of the words. Through basic phonetics workshops and application exercises based on the vowel system, the student will have the opportunity to learn and work on the different elements that make up the general phonetic rules of language pronunciation, such as: vowels, distinguishing the different vowel sounds and diphthongs; nasal vowels and their particularities; the liaison by dragging consonant and vowel sounds; the accents, the silent and aspirated H, among others.
Written production
Facing a blank piece of paper is usually a difficult task, especially when it comes to a foreign language that is not mastered. Putting thoughts and ideas into writing is not an easy task, which is why it is important to practice writing in a second language. Therefore, the student will be provided with the necessary strategies to develop the abilities and skills that he/she must have when writing in another language, making use of punctuation marks, word stress and the use of logical connectors; without neglecting the grammatical component and spelling.
Oral production
Verbal expression is considered one of the most difficult skills to develop when learning a foreign language, since all the theory acquired about the language is transferred to the construction of ideas with adequate logical and grammatical meaning. In addition, this competition is essential to demonstrate the use of the language that one has in front of the language that is learned. Thus, in the class sessions the student will be provided with the ideal pedagogical space from where they can do a less artificial and more natural and active practice, which allows them to simulate everyday life situations and practice what they have learned.
Written comprehension and oral comprehension
Reading and listening are equally important skills when learning a foreign language. In all class sessions, listening exercises will be worked on simultaneously and progressively, in addition to sound documents and authentic audio recordings and/or reading texts, where you can face French directly and actively, allowing you to access the acquisition of vocabulary, progress in phonetic aspects, and use of grammar in real contexts.
Sessions last 90 minutes (hour and a half). You have the possibility of choosing and scheduling your class sessions according to the intensity, schedule and days that best suit your needs.
We offer time slots from 07:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday and Saturdays from 07:00 to 16:00.
In the case of international students, the time conversion is made as the case may be.
